How does laser tattoo removal Portland work?
Oregon Aesthetics uses the extremely effective and powerful Quanta Q-Plus C laser. This laser offers 3 true laser wavelengths including the 694 nm Q-Switched Ruby laser, the Q-Switched Nd: YAG 1064 nm laser and the Q-Switched Nd: YAG 532 nm laser. These three laser wavelengths achieve the highest possible fluencies, producing remarkable results to remove multi-color tattoos. Quanta Q-Plus laser is the most advance medical laser and used specifically for laser tattoo removal. The energy produced from the laser quickly heats up and shatters the ink without damaging surrounding tissue. The ink is then flushed through your lymphatic system.
Does the laser remove colored tattoos?
Yes. Our Q-Plus C, 1064nm and 532nm used to remove black, red, orange, yellow and purple ink. Ruby 694nm laser is very effective for those stubborn blues, greens and violet ink.
How many sessions will I need?
The amount of sessions varies depending on the depth, density, color, quality and age of the tattoo. Typically, it takes anywhere from 5-12 treatments to remove a tattoo completely with treatments spaced 4 week apart. On average, professional tattoos take roughly 5-12 treatments and homemade tattoos take about 3-7 treatments. Black and Red inks are the easiest to remove and blues and greens can be more challenging. The laser works by breaking down each layer of ink in your tattoo. How long does each treatment last?
Treatment time depends on how big the tattoo is and how much ink you have in your skin. Normally, treatments take roughly 5-20 minutes, which enables you to have a treatment on your lunch break or before or after work!
What side effects should I expect?
All of the side effects listed below are normal and part of the removal process. Patients can have minor swelling, redness, bruising, scabbing and blistering. Do NOT pick at the treated area, picking may cause scarring. It is important to follow the aftercare instructions provided to you and are listed on our website as well.
Is this going to HURT?
Laser tattoo removal is a little uncomfortable but not painful. Most patients compare it to getting a tattoo or having a small rubber band snap against their skin. Oregon Aesthetics uses the Zimmer Cryo 6 cooling system to numb the skin during the treatment. The Zimmer blows extremely cold air (-30 degrees celcius) on to the skin to numb the treated area. The air is on during the whole treatment for your comfort. The nice thing is treatments only last 5-20 minutes!
